August 31 Hard RockWell nothing new to tell...kind of. Mason was on the Pb while I was out at MB this weekend to enjoy the Hard Rock Park. The food begging I come back to is a bit of a pain though. And to think last week he was just starting to calm down while eating again - he acutally walked away from his bowl the other day with food in it.... that hasn't happened since this all started.
The trip to the Hard Rock Park was awesome - check out the blog - they gave us special seating and I partied...I did miss my boys but I had the best time at that park yet!
Check out www.hardrockparkblog.com/?p=692 for info on what a great time I had and see if you can find me in the pic! LOL
August 16 Full moon & solar and & lunar stormsSo It's a full moon today. Mason started acting strange - what I consider not himself Thursday so we started giving him his low dose of Pb a day early than I had intended. Seems fine now but very very very active - Mason hasn't been this active in years it seems - but I love it. We had a wild night Thursday night considering neighborhood hooligans - well one of them was on our back porch - they must have assumed I live alone - wrong so I guess my husband scared the crap out of him when he caught him on our back porch (inside our fence).... lucky he didn't get shot. No we didn't call the cops - hello - if you know the situation with the neighbor you know I don't trust the assholes - okay so not all of 'em are like that but..... he/they have ruined my trust in protection. I wouldn't trust them with a dead animal much less my life. I hate it when I get off topic like that - anyways we would have had to give Mason the extra Pb just due to the excitement of the night i guess. it's got my whole schedule off course now....
but back to my babies...
So apparently today on the k9 epilepsy list I got a fantastic link that shows space weather!!! i guess it's spaceweather.com - and there is going to be a solar stream to hit earth on the 18th so it looks like i'llk keep my Mace on the Pb a couple of extra days just to be on the safe side. No matter what canine epilepsy is something that you continue to learn with - and questions - and research. I'm shocked at the information out there and the amount of stuff a vet doesn't tell you or prepare you for. It is really up to the owner to be the advocate and do the dirty work of finding info out. It's a shame to be honest - too bad vets aren't like regular doctors and have specialities...
And I can say this hundreds of times but i'm so happy we decided to go to the holistic vet. We've started paying attention to holistic care for us as well and it pays to ask questions and do the research - amazing stuff. There is a wonderful store in Arlington Village - Natural Goodness - they're so helpful and i highly recommend them.
so ..... keep a journal - watch the moon phases and now watch for space weather! one more thing to follow - it's a never ending journey canine epilepsy - but the benefits of all the hard work at times can be very rewarding. Mason is more young at heart, playful and overall in better health than he has ever been. Blue besides now he seems to have caught Mason's allergies and ear issues - is doing much better with his hip - and is now jumping on our bed! I'm telling you the holistic way is the best way - he only takes certain vitamins a day and gets massages and now he jumps on the bed - WOW... amazing stuff.
For the owners who have to deal the the seizures so often and more severe than Mason - my heart and thoughts go out to each of you - I know how scary it can be and i worry constantly that my boy may get beat by the "beast" any day.... stay strong and know that your love and caring is all they ever want.
okay storm watcher of space going to work now. :)
August 10 Back home with the babies!Well we got back home to our babies it seems as if they missed us - even if it was for one night :)
Mom had to give Mason some Pb just because we weren't home and of course she noticed the HUNGER - it can be so bad at times. I even caught the little wolf child in my purse this morning chewing on a empty gum wrapper cause he thought it was food. Needless to say they are both outside for a bit while I catch up on email and sort pictures.
Mason did get sick - too many beans or just plan missing his parents we won't know. We cut his dinner in half last night just to make sure it wasn't more serious and to watch him. he seems fine today - like I said before he was in the purse. Blue missed us and well maybe he just missed his dad - It was Dave's first time away since May. It was so nice to get away and not have to worry about the boys - we missed them and we talked about them constantly - just like having kids....but it was so NICE not to have to deal with everything.
I'm glad to be back with my boys though - now time to straighten up and get things taken care of around here - not much on the agenda todayfor a change - still need to exercise and go row and maybe go see our neighbor - I feel like I haven't seen her in ages and i miss her!
so all in all - the mini vacation was much much much needed and we enjoyed it and I'm so very thankful to my parents for watching out for my babies - sorry she didn't get much sleep - it was cooler here for a change and of course Mason wanted to be in or out - whatever fit his moodiness....
did i forget to tell you he can be moody? LOL
August 07 So we try to limit excitement....Sometimes it's just impossible to limit the excitement in our house!!
So here I sit worried that Blue is going to bust though the frong window. Mason - nope not concerned - he doesn't seem to have that prey instinct at all. I guess it's from him playing with a cat when he was a puppy.
So are you wondering what's up yet?
A BUNNY RABBIT!!!!
yep, a bunny is out the frong window and it's been a staring match for about 30 minutes - the darn thing is just sitting there - like nothing bothers it. Dave said he about walked on it the other day so I guess you can say the darn thing is now used to us?????? He is quite cute but so small and lean. there are rabbits everywhere in our neighborhood - which is kind of weird to be honest - but this little one seems to live here. I think we finally blocked it out of our garden so now it eats the flowers out front - which to be honest - that's fine with us.
So it continues - Blue is going crazy and wants to get it and Mason just sits there - so honestly - I think he'll be fine - it's Blue I need to worry about tonight - that's new!
August 06 Grandmama plans to look after the boy.....Grandmama plans to look after the boy this weekend. I think this will be the first time that Dave has spent time away from Mason since his seizure in May. Both Gp's came over today to learn how to feed the boys - i'ts not easy anymore or just pouring food in a bowl. And they can be so impatient waiting for their food bowl - well let me correct that - Mason can be impatient - just like his mom I guess. :)
So we plan to go for one night to see some friends - I wish it could be two nights but that isn't fair for my parents to have to look after my boys. They're so good to them as it is - I dont want to use them ya know.
I think it's going to be fine - I'll worry but not too much - at least it's cooling off. I just hope Mason doesn't beg the entire time we're gone - he is hard to say no too sometimes but he has to get that weight off. I think he has lost some pounds.
We're in the prcoess of trying to figure out what kind of flea/heartguard medicine - and of course his vet has Wednesdays off. we've got a couple of weeks before we need to think about it since we make the time span in between last at least 40 days. Mason does fine with it so far - but there is a new one out there that combines the two and I'm unsure of the details - dave was telling me about it.
So lots of things are going on lately - life has been busy and I haven't had much time to write what's up with Mason. Mason and Blue both are very bored bored bored boys.... it's been too hot to even walk them so you know that bored dogs are destructive dogs - well so far so good - but they don't get more than hour outside and they want inside - of course we let them in - they're spoilt and we're proud of it. Mason can't get hot anyways so we're all stuck insdie the house. Heat seems to be a trigger for him in my opinion.
Blue is still loveable as ever. he jumped up on my princess bed last night - normally he waits until I lift him up - granted teh boy is tall but so is my bed. I was going to tell him no but I guess he didn't want to hear it. Okay so I couldn't tell him to get down after he jumped up! To be honest - he is a good sleeping buddy - he laid down between us at our feet and we all slept - even through a bad storm that rolled through. See told you he was a good sleeping buddy - cause if you know Blue you know he is so scared of storms but I don't even think he woke up.
Working out is getting easier - I'm so very addicted to it now. The boys even know if I bring out the medical tape they know i'm about to leave. Granted I try to take them over with me maybe once per week. to give them a little excitement.
looking at the news - weather is cooling off - looks like maybe saturday night or sunday morning I should be able to walk the boys.
The dogs next door have been barking non stop for months now - odd at the moment I haven't heard them today. I normally can't even open my patio door without hearing what sounds like a kennel over there. So not sure if our emails to vanrack or the hoa board had anything to do with it. we'll see. I don't want to amek them mad - I have to share a lot line with them right? Now as for the other neighbor across the street - we all know what I wish - well if you know me.
people just don't care anymore ....well that's not true. one neighbor picked up a husky and a collie yesterday - and came to our house cause they know i have a husky- there are only 3 in teh neighborhood so it was easy for me to know who it belonged to - I think it was wonderful they came to check if it was my Mason. that really means a lot. I should thank them in the newsgroup I do for our neighborhoods' HOA.
well one more work day to go then beachtime and seeing friends! I miss them - they moved away for better jobs - granted I don't blame them but I do miss them!
sounds like everyone in the house is settled down and sleeping - I know this cause I don't hear a squeaky toy. Yes Mason is fascinated with squeaky toys.
all is well in Mason's home - tired/sleepy so we're headed off to sleep for the night.
so far so good - no seizures - and we're doing okay on the holistc diet, filtered water, and medicine when we need it. good choice changing vets - best thing I was ever told to do.
Thanks for reading..... and caring about our boy! |
